SIMPLIFY YOUR SCHEDULE

if you’re feeling stressed consider cutting out and activity or two. Instead of burdening yourself, focus on th e ones most important to you.

BE REALISTIC

Don’t try to be perfecgt, becuase no on is. Expecting others to be perfect can add to your stress level too - and it puts a lot of pressure on them! If you need help with something (like schoolwork, a work or personal problem), don’t be afraid to ask for it.

GET SOME REST

Getting enough sleep helps to keep your body and mind in top shape, leaving you better equipped to deal with negative stressors in your life.

RELAX

The body’s natural antidote to stress is called the relaxation response. It’s the opporsite of your body’s stress response and it can be activated simply, by well… relaxing! You can help triger the relaxation response by learngin simple breathing techniques, and practice them when you are cuaght in stressful situations. Shcedule time for activities that are calkming and pleasureable. Such as engaging in a hobby, spending time with your pet or a loved one and even taking a warm relaxing shower.

BE KIND TO YOUR BODY

Experts agree that getting regular exercise helps people manage stress better. Eating well aslo helps your body function at its peak, optimal level. When we feel stressed. its easy to eat junk and fast food. But under stressful conditions, the body needs vitamins & minerals more than ever. So do your best to give your body what it needs.

AVOID SUBSTANCE ABUSE (AS A COPING TOOL)

Sone people may turn to substance abuse as a way to ease tension. Although alcohol or drugs may seem to ease the stress; relyin on them actually weakens the body’s ability to handle stress, becuase they wear down the body’s ability to regulate and also bounce back.

STOP NEGATIVE SELF TALK

Your outlook, attitude and thoughts influence the way you see things - and the way you feel. Is your cup half full or half empty??? A healthy dose of optimism can help to make the best of stressful circumstances. Even if you are out of practice or tend to be a bit of a pessimist, everyone can learn to (practice thinking more positively, and reap the benefits.
